Organizers of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party have stated about mass pressure on activists of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party with a demand to withdraw their signatures under the founding document for party creation.

The BelaPAN has been informed about that by one of the co-chairmen of the party Vital Rymasheuski.

According to him, a worker of Babrujsk meat-processing plant Tamara Fyodarava is menaced expulsion from job. At the moment she is having holiday. Alena Chuzhak who lives in one of agro-townships of Minsk region has been threatened by eviction from the house which had been given to her by the state, in case she won’t withdraw her signature under the constitutional documents of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party.

As representatives of the BCD told to BelaPAN earlier, the Justice Ministry started pressure on founders of the party before the documents were submitted for registration. A BCD activist from Vitsebsk Danna Papova was called from the Justice Ministry. She was asked whether she was a founder of the BCD party, whether she had taken part in the founding congress of the party, or in the meeting for nomination of the congress delegates, who the leader of Vitsebsk branch of the BCD is. In Pinsk, Brest and Babrujsk KGB representatives talked to people, demanding them to recall signatures from the list of the party founders.

Co-chairmen of the BCD Paval Sevyarynets and Vital Rymasheuski have filed an application to the General Prosecutor’s Office with a request to look into the matter. “However, the General Prosecutor’s Office informed us that they forwarded the complaint to the Justice Ministry, against which the complaint was in fact,” Rymasheuski told.

“We think this pressure could be called political repressions already. We call upon the authorities and Alyaksandr Lukashenka personally to stop persecution of BCD founders and their families immediately,” Rymasheuski stated.
