The Supreme Economic Court turned down the complaint of the Protestants against the confiscation of their temple (former cowshed that was reconstructed at their own cost) and a large piece of land by an earlier verdict of the Supreme Economic Court.

’On 7 October Minsk Economic Court supported the initiative of the Maskouski district housing economy and ruled that the church was to be evicted. Even if we forget for a moment that such activities are taken against a Christian church, the believers of which are evicted from the building they bought for their own money in conformity with all norms, we cannot agree with the mocking compensation of $13,000, offered to us for a huge building and 160 ares of land,’ said the lawyer of Novaya Zhyttsio Siarhei Lukanin.

Having considered the appeal the judges of the College Board Siarhei Kulakouski, Aksana Mikhniuk and Stsiapan Turmovich decided to leave the previous court verdict in force.

By the way, at the trial representatives of the Maskouski district housing economy stated they would take forceful measures for evicting the owners from the building, whereas the believers stated they aren’t going to surrender and leave their temple.
