On 9 December the human rights defender Viktar Sazonau applied to Hrodna city executive committee as he didn’t receive an answer to his application for picket within the legal terms.
At the CEC he was informed that the answer to his application was sent to his address on 4 December and issued him a copy, where it was stated that the action was not authorized because of violation of the requirements of Article 5 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus On mass events in the Republic of Belarus. The letter contains no detail as to which concrete requirements were violated.
Bear in mind that Sazonau’s last application was analogical to many other ones, which Hrodna CEC used to satisfy some time ago.
