The court of Valozhyn district dismissed a motion of the Polish Embassy to Belarus which asked to return its property which was kept in the Polish House in Ivyanets.

BelaPAN was informed about that by the chairman of Ivyanets branch of the unofficial Union of Poles in Belarus Tereza Sobal.

As said by her, the matter concerns return to the diplomatic mission of furniture and carpets given to the primary branch of the association after its split in 2005.

In an interview to BelaPAN the spokesperson of the Polish Embassy Pawel Marczuk expressed a hope that the request of the diplomatic mission would be considered by an independent court and it would adopt a lega decision.

Two wings of the Union of Poles in Belarus, the officially registered one, and unofficial, which is supported by the Polish authorities, lay claim to the Polish House in Ivyanets. On February 8 officers of the court distrained property of the Polish House and evicted activists of the unofficial UPB.

By a decision of February 17 the court of Valozhyn district made Tereza Sobal leave the Polish House in Ivyanets “occupied by her unwarrantedly”, and on March 11 the judicial panel for civil cases of Minsk regional court upheld this decision.
