Hrodna: citizens appeal violations of electoral rights
Five residents of Hrodna lodged a complaint with Kastrychnitski Court after their representative Aleh Kalinkou was not elected member of constituency election commission #106.
The complainants argue that their electoral rights have been violated. They claim that Hrodna Kastrychnitski District officials failed to provide information on the composition of constituency commissions, thus depriving the activists of any possibility to appeal the decision on the formation of the commissions within three days as provided by the law.
The current version of the Electoral Code provides for appealing the decisions on the formation of local electoral commissions within three days after the decision was taken. However, it is practically impossible to be implemented, since the information on the decisions should be published within seven days after the decision.
