Salihorsk town executive committee released the list of public canvassing locations, featuring only two sites – the Budaunik stadium and the Budaunik palace of culture, both located on the town outskirts. Meanwhile, in some of Salihorsk district constituencies, including the towns of Starobin and Chyrvonaya Slabada, canvassing will be allowed in the town centers.

In any case, there are extremely few public places for canvassing activities in the district. Despite the large amount of constituencies, only four of them will have authorized canvassing locations, the remaining majority likely to cause troubles for the campaign activities.

The situation in Salihorsk district is, in general, characteristic of the overall election environment in the country.

According to representatives of the campaign team of Aliaksei Valabuyeu, running in the district, the decision by the authorities is primarily aimed at suppressing the pro-democratic candidates’ activity and restricting canvassing opportunities. The activist says they are going to appeal the decision at the Central Election Commission.
