Kalinkavichy authorities blunder
A misprint made in the post address of Ruslan Miatlitski, Kalinkavichy ‘For Freedom’ coordinator, deprived the activist a right to appeal the authorities’ refusal to include him on the local election commission.
The application for registration as member of the election commission was posted on 6 March and rejected by the local executive committee, since it was received on 7 March only. The activist left a message on the incident in the committee’s book of complaints. A few days later the complaint was replied by an official letter. However, the officials made a misspelled the activist’s addressed and the letter was sent to a wrong address. As a result, Mr. Miatlitski received the reply on 22 March and therefore could not appeal the refusal, since the period for appeal had expired.
