Homel: commissions ‘forget’ to inform democratic candidates about electoral meetings
Some constituency commissions of Homel ‘forgot’ to inform some of democratic candidates that they would have electoral meetings, whereas surnames of other such candidates weren’t even mentioned in the invitations to such meetings.
Piatro Kuzniatsou, a coordinator of the For Freedom movement, told about a funny situation with Zmitser Stsepanets, a candidate for the Homel city Council of Deputies. The candidate learned that an electoral meeting would take place in his constituency on 15 April from a note on a lamp post. The note included the surnames of all candidates running at the constituency but him. ‘If an election commission holds an electoral meeting, all candidates should be invited to it. Otherwise, it’s discrimination,’ states Mr. Kuzniatsou.
The member of the For Freedom movement Daryia Suvorava, a candidate for the city council, wasn’t informed about the electoral meeting by the election commission. At the same time, her surname was published in the invitation notes. Daryia learned about the meeting from her acquaintances.
