Baranavichy activist appeals forgery by local election commission at prosecutor’s office
On 16 April Mikalai Charnavus, who was refused registration as a candidate for the Baranavichy Town Council and Brest Regional Council due to ‘fake signatures’ allegedly collected by his campaign team, lodged a complaint with the town’s prosecutor’s office and the Central Election Commission.
The activist had previously appealed the refusal at Brest Regional Election Commission and Brest Regional Court. In his appeals, he clearly declares the unlawfulness of the Baranavichy Town Election Commission and the constituency election commission.
Mikalai Charnavus stresses the fact that while inspecting the validity of the signatures the commissioners used pretyped statement forms, which is condemned as ‘complete nonsense’ by the activist.
Mr. Charnavus asks the Central Election Commission to inspect the work of the Baranavichy Town Election Commission and find the commissioners guilty of violating the Electoral Code.
