Today, on 23 April, an urgent meeting of rectors of Minsk universities is due to be held by the Ministry of Education. By 14 p.m. all students living in hostels were ordered to have cast their ballots, says a university professor.
Students are said to be freed from classes so that they could be able to vote.
‘Every dean’s office has a list of those who have voted early and those who haven’t. This affects the students living in hostels,’ says the teacher.
Administrations of some universities are attracted to take part in the early vote by ‘a carrot’ – the students of Belarusian State Medical University were promised to be given three days-off in case they voted earlier.
