Strange but true: 4 candidates from village of Chysts are members of election commissions

Today, it turned out that four candidates for the Chysts village council (Siarhei Miroshnikau, Halina Kurylovich, Alena Ulchyts and Stanislau Bazhko) are at the same time members of various divisional elections commissions.

However, under par. 20 of Art. 68 of the Electoral Code, ‘the authority of the person, nominated for a local council, who is member of the Central, constituency, territorial or divisional election commission, is considered invalid from the moment of registration as a candidate.’ Thus, the above-mentioned persons blatantly violated the electoral legislation.

Uladzislau Zvernik, running for the Chysts village council, lodged a complaint against the violation with the prosecutor’s office of Maladechna district and the Central Election Commission. The candidate demands to initiate an investigation and take adequate measures to declare elections in polling stations #72, 73 and 74 of Maladechna district failed.
