Minor detained and released without charges
On 14 May the under-aged Viktoryja Ladzis was detained by the police on her way to Minsk art school in Makayonak Street. The police seized the girl’s mobile phone and took her to Minsk Pershamaiski police department.
The policemen showed Ms. Ladzis a complaint lodged by the girl against the unlawful actions by the police back on 26 April 2010 and asked if she had really lodged the appeal. She was then asked to provide written explanations for her arrest for illegal distribution of printed materials a year before.
After that, Viktoryja was released without charges, spending 5 hours at the department, which is a violation of Art. 8.4 of the Civil Procedural Code.
The girl lodged a complaint against the detention with Minsk Pershamaiski Prosecutor’s Office, demanding to inspect the case of illegal actions by the police.
