Havary Praudu campaign leaders released
The apprehended were met in front of the police department of Leninski district, however they were not released from the remand prison in Akrestsin Street immediately.
Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, the leader of 'Havary Praudu' ('Speak the Truth!') campaign, was taken to the centre of the city and released there. The editor-in-chief of "Tovarishch" newspaper Syarhei Vaznyak and an activist of the United Civil Party Andrei Dzmitryeu were released i Akrestsin Street.
People were waiting for the activists to meet them near the the police department of Leninski district, as policemen promised that the activists should be taken there for interrogation first. Members of 'Havary Praudu' campaign, oppositional politicians and journalists gathered there. Right after their release Nyaklyaeu, Vaznyak and Dzmitryeu came to the police department to salute the people waiting for them.
Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu told that he does not know about his status at the moment. The poet planned to seek advice of a lawyer. The poet also noted that 'Havary Praudu' campaign will to go independently from the presidential election campaign.
Maryana Syameshko, a lawyer, told that the three detained have a status of suspects, charges haven't been filed against them yet.
We remind that dozens of activists of 'Havary Praudu' campaign were searched on May 18. The campaign leader poet Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, editor of “Tovarishch” newspaper Syarhei Vaznyak, activist of the United Civil Party Andrei Dzmitryeu were detained. The criminal case was initiated under article 250 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (dissemination of false information about goods and services).
