Protestant Church 'New Life' is charged with pollution of more than 3,000 m2 of fertile soil
This information was provided to BelaPAN by the church lawyer, Siarhei Lukanin. According to him, this accusation is stated in the act of examination of the territory of the church that was passed to the believers on 9 June. The document is signed by 10 officials and includes the road that leads to the temple, the car parking and the lawn behind the church.
Mr. Lukanin says that the officials ignored the arguments that the car parking and the road had existed in this place before the religious community bought the building. The car parking was asphalted several decades ago, which is confirmed by the remnants of asphalt. The officials, on their part, state that the religious community has no permission for the construction of a road and a car parking, as well as creation of the lawn for playground.
Bear in mind that the legal proceedings on the lawsuit of the State Committee on Environmental Protection and Natural Resources against New Life started at the Minsk city Economic Court on 12 May. The authorities demand that the church should pay about $250 mln for alleged pollution of its territory with oil products.
