The House of Representatives has adopted in the second reading the amendments to the law on military service that cancel the educational exemptions for correspondent students, BelaPAN reports.

The law also establishes a new order of pre-service, physical and military training of minors and specifies the grounds for resignation of enlistment. Another amendment is that a military conscript is freed from paying for a home loan for a period of service.

'The proposal to cancel the determent of military service for correspondent students is connected with the annual decrease of the number of draftees', BelTA learnt from the Standing Commission on National Security of the House of Representatives. The gender and age analysis of Belarus’s population shows a significant decline in the number of men subject to military registration, the Commission notes.
