Journalists detained in Minsk

Journalists Nasta Krauchuk and Volha Zharnasek were detained by the police outside the Belarusian State University main building, as they were covering an event arranged by the ‘Havary Praudu’ civil campaign, the press-service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists reports.

‘Hardly had we managed to take a comment when we were approached by the University security service,’ says Nasta Krauchuk. The journalists were told that shooting on the BSU’s territory is forbidden.

The security called for the police who took the journalists to Minsk Maskouski police department.

However, they were soon released without charges.

‘While we were having a dispute with the security service, out camera was damaged in a fight,’ says Ms. Krauchuk.
