On 3 July, activists of the civil campaign Speak Truth laid down flowers to the Chaliuskintsy monument and the Military cemetery where victims of the Soviet regime and World War II were buried as well as the Belarusian poets Yakub Kolas and Yanka Kupala.
Five activists were detained by the riot police: Yahor Babrou, Volha Hurnevich, Aliaksei Liaukovich, Mikhas Mikulich and Mikola Serhiyenka. All of them were wearing T-shirts with Speak Truth logo.
The detainees were guarded to the Savetski District Police Department of Minsk for identification and were released in about three hours.
