Minsk Economic Court granted claim of Minsk authorities to 'Movement Forward’
On 29 July the Minsk Economic Court granted the claim of the Minsk City Executive Committee concerning the research and educational institution Movement Forward, the organizer of the Speak Truth campaign.
The court found the residential property rental agreement between Movement Forward and Tina Vlati Ltd. ‘null and void’, which in fact gives legal grounds for liquidation of the institution.
BelaPAN was informed about that by a human rights activist Raisa Mikhailouskaya.
‘Initially the executive committee asked to find the rental agreement invalid. However the situation of the claim changed in the court. If the rental agreement was recognized invalid by the court, Movement Forward would lose the legal address after the decision’s entry into legal force. Doday’s decision of the court means that from the very beginning of its activities work of the institution was illegal, as it had no legal address and could not be registered,’ Mikhailouskaya said.
Representatives of Movement Forward are set to challenge the decision of the court in the Supreme Economic Court.
Bear in mind that on 7 July the Minsk Economical Court didn’t grant the claim of the Minsk City Executive Committee to deprive Movement Forward of the state registration.
