Mikhail Bashura, an activist of Tell the Truth campaign, was detained at his apartment’s doors on August 6.

Radio Svaboda learnt this from Bashura’s associate Aleh Myatelitsa.

At 5 pm, a man in mufti knocked at the doors of the apartment Mikhail Bashura rents. He offered Bashura to go out and have talk. The latter denied the offer and refused to open the door. The man in mufti didn’t go away.

At about 7 pm, Bashura was to go out on business, but he was stopped and strongly recommended to go to the Savetski district militia department.

The oppositionist demanded to call a lawyer and refused to give any evidence without his presence. A detention report was drawn up against the activist, he may be detained for three days.

The activist spent the night in the militia station. As the website zapraudu.info reports, a criminal case under article 380 (falsification, making, using or selling forged documents, stamps, seals, forms) was initiated against Bashura.

Tell the Truth campaign has recently launched gathering signatures to delegate the campaign’s leader Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu to the Belarusian National Assembly.
