On 24 August Salihorsk Town Court fined two Young Front activists Andrus Tychyna and Ryhor Astapenia BYR 700,000 each for arranging a street drawing contest marking the 20th anniversary of the proclamation of Belarus’ independence back on 27 July, European Radio for Belarus reports, quoting a Young Front activist Aliaksei Valabuyeu.
Andrus Tychyna and Ryhor Astapenia were detained by the police together with two more Young Front activist Ivan and Illya Shylas and charged with failure to obey the policemen’s orders.
The Shyla brothers are currently outside Belarus and are to stand trial in the near future.
