Ministry of Information warns "Brest Newspaper"

Official warning for dissemination of false information has been signed by the First Deputy Minister of Information Lilia Ananich. The reason for sanctions has been the article "Eco-settlements to save those who are tired of the city", published on September 14.

According to the Press-Center of the Belarusian Association of Journalists, the newspaper's editor's office received a letter from Kamianets regional executive committee, which stated there had been inaccuracies in the article. The editor's office published this letter as a refutaton on September 16, as it was demanded by the local authorities. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Information warned the newspaper without waiting for the refutation to be published.

Besides, information identical to that published by the "Brest Newspaper" appeared in a series of other publications in the region, including the newspaper "Zaria", the co-founders of which are Brest regional executive committee and Brest regional council of deputies.
