Authorities started haunting Ales Straltsou and Aleh Korban
The civil activist Ales Straltsou keeps receiving telephone calls from some ‘Siarhei Ivanavich’ who wants to talk about the old ‘Process of 14’ and its participants. He even agreed to come to the meeting on his own.
Mr. Straltsou is indignant at such attention to his person. ‘The whole European community condemned the criminal persecution of participants of the peaceful street action that had taken place in January 2008. The authorities, pushed by the public, had to grant parole to those who had been convicted on this case, and the return to it all is absurd. They should have stopped it long ago.’
Nevertheless, Ales Straltsou agreed to meet with Siarhei Ivanavich on 1 October in the afternoon to find what he needed.
A similar telephone call was received in the morning by another civil activist, Aleh Korban. A man who called himself the investigator of the Partysanski District Police Department of Minsk Stoliar blankly demanded a meeting with him for interrogating him about the case that had been instigated against Young Front members on Article 193.1 of the Criminal Code. Mr. Korban was warned that he would be brought to the police department forcedly in the case he refused to come there on his own.
Comparing these incidents that are formally connected to long forgotten criminal cases we get the impression that the authorities are preparing another lynching of active participants of civil movements and organizations.
