Decision of the Baran Town Executive Committee #166 About defining the places where the picketing for collecting signatures for the nomination of candidates for President of the Republic of Belarus should be banned, adopted on 21 September, was published only ten days after in issue #112 of Arshanskaya Hazeta.
According to this decision, it is prohibited to collect electors’ signatures at the stops of the public transport of the town. Activists of the candidates’ teams were quite surprised to learn about it as collecting signatures is allowed in the district center, Orsha.
The officials, on their part, don’t explain what the special strategic meaning of the transport stops of Baran is.
