Barysau: military officers engage in electoral campaign
A working group on the preparation and holding of the presidential election was established at the bureau of the North-Western Operational Command. It is headed by the Deputy Commander for ideological work, Colonel Siarhei Karaliou.
’The group will deal with the preparation and conduct of the election in the two large military units that are located in Barysau’, reports the website of Adzinstva, the newspaper of the Barysau Town Executive Committee (http://www.adzinstva.by). The military insist that the prompt information of all categories of officers, soldiers and their families and the civilian staff of the military units about the elections has been organized already.
The ideological preparation to the election includes additional lessons dedicated to the study of the Electoral Code, the establishment of ‘electors’ corners’ and consultative-informative centers in the libraries of the military units.
The soldiers also have an alternative way to learn more about the potential candidates for the presidency. The Barysau District Executive Committee does not prohibit picketing near military checkpoints, but the distance should me not less that 50 meters.
