Navalukoml: activist of electoral teams of Uladzimir Niakliayeu and Mikalai Statkevich signed out of psychiatric asylum after 15-day detention

The 50-year-old resident of the town of Navalukoml who intended to collect signatures for the nomination of Uladzimir Niakliayeu and Mikalai Statkeivich as candidates for President of the Republic of Belarus has been released from the Lepel psychiatric asylum after spending 15 days there.

He had been forcedly taken to the hospital by the police after a complaint about the disappearance of the documents for creation of the Navalukoml branch of the electoral team of Uladzimir Niakliayeu in the process of mail delivery (he had received an unsealed envelope without these documents).

As stated by Mr. Baravik after his release from the psychiatric hospital, the pressurization from the side of the police and the punitive psychiatry didn’t influence his political convictions and he will continue collecting signatures for the democratic candidates.

The Vitsebsk coordinator of Statkevich’s electoral team Aliaksei Haurutsikau who had sent to Mr. Baravik electoral documents by registered mail prior to his forced hospitalization, filed a number of complaints concerning the disappearance of the blanks from the unsealed envelope and the unlawful detention of the Navalukoml activist in the psychiatric asylum.
