Raman Yurhel complains against ruling of Hrodna City Executive Committee
The Hrodna representative of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee Raman Yurhel applied to the Central Election Commission and the Hrodna Regional Executive Committee with complaints concerning the ruling of the Hrodna City Executive Committee determining the places that were banned for electoral picketing.
R.Yurhel asks to abolish this ruling referring to Articles 23 and 25 of the Constitution, Article 21 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the recent precedents in other towns and cities of Belarus. In fact, signatures in support of the potential candidates for president are collected in all places of Hrodna and it doesn’t do any harm to the public order. That’s why the observer considers that it would be expedient to put the ruling of the Hrodna City Executive Committee in line with the reality and the existing legal norms.
