Court liquidates 'Movement Forward'
On 12 October the judge of the Minsk City Economic Court Uladzimir Rybalkin issued a verdict to liquidate the cultural and educational establishment Movement Forward that is headed by the potential candidate for president Uladzimir Niakliayeu.
At the trial, the representative of the Minsk City Executive Committee Dzmitry Antanevich claimed that for the leaders of the Movement Forward had presented knowingly false information during its registration. In particular, as said by Antanevich, the organization signed a non-residential premises lease agreement with Tina Vlati Ltd. in Masherau Street, 54-5, knowing that these premises were a shopping space. The executive committee states that it is not allowed to place an office in the premises intended for selling goods.
Mr. Antanevich also reminded that on 29 July the Minsk City Economic Court granted the lawsuit of the Minsk City Executive Committee in which the authorities asked to declare the rental agreement for the office void, and the attempts of Movement Forward to challenge this decision brought no results.
At the same time, the representative of the organization Viktar Sazonau told the court that he had not given any knowingly false information during the registration of the organization at the Minsk City Executive Committee. As said by him, there is no such norm in the law which defines which premises could be used for administrative use. Mr. Sazonau emphasized, that not a shopping space, but an office space was rented from Tina Vlati company.
