Central Election Commission warns electoral team of Uladzimir Niakliayeu
The Central Electoral Commission issued a warning to the electoral team of the potential candidate for president Uladzimir Niakliayeu for an alleged violation of the electoral legislation.
‘One can speak about recurrence’, said the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna said.
According to her words, the electoral team admitted numerous violations of electoral legislation, including the involvement of under-aged persons in collection of signatures, preparation of printed products financed from unknown sources and its distribution during collecting the signatures, Interfax reports.
According to the member of the Central Electoral Commission Nadzeya Kisialiova, on 11 October the Central Election Commission received the information about under-aged citizens participating in the signature collecting for U.Niakliayeu from the Inspection for Juvenile Affairs of the Zavadski District Police Department of Minsk. ;Four under-aged persons had folders, in which there were examples of subscription lists, instructions about the order of their filling in, and subscription lists with signatures of voters’, said the CEC member. She also argued that these under-aged had certificates of members of initiative groups with surnames of other people. These under-aged citizens explained, that ‘on 4 October a young man approached them and offered them to collect signatures promising 1 USD for a signature’.
N. Kisialiova also said that the under-aged also had 50 leaflets in support of U.Niakliayeu, 100,000 of whch had been printed in Samara (Russia). At the same time, the member of the Central Election Commission stated that the CEC had received many complaints concerning the distribution of leaflets in support of U.Niakliayeu, whereas the electoral legislation prohibits the production and distribution of agitation materials at the stage of the nomination of candidates for presidency.
Answering these accusations, the head of the electoral team Andrei Dzmitryieu stated that Mr. Niakliayeu didn’t tell the under-aged to collect signatures in his support and that the electoral team was aware about the distribution of leaflets in support of Mr. Niakliayeu and considered it as a provocation. However, the CEC decided to issue the electoral team of Uladzimir Niakliayeu with a warning anyway.
