Village voters forced to sign for Lukashenka
Local executive authorities have been canvassing for signatures, using enforced means, report pro-democratic campaign activists. Members of Uladzimir Niakliayeu’s campaign team have been unable to canvass for signatures in the village of Viaseya, Slutsk district, after the passports of local residents had been collected by local executive authorities. The authorities are forcing people to give their signatures for Aliaksandr Lukashenka, says activist Anatol Yurevich.
‘Apart from that, we were not let into a hostel of Minskablselbud state enterprise. The hostel residents say their passports have been collected to be used for filling out signature sheets in support of Lukashenka. They were not even asked to put their signatures,’ says the activist.
