Lukashenka’s campaign team deserves a warning, says member of Minsk City Election Commission
Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s initiative group should receive a warning by the Central Election Commission, says member of Minsk city election commission Halina Siamdzianava, who took part in the consideration of a complaint by activists Mikita Krasnou and Viachaslau Dziyanau against violations of canvassing procedures by Aliaksandr Luakshenka’s campaign activists.
The young activists argue that they have witnessed six violations within 2 hours, when signature sheets were collected by unauthorized persons and took video of the canvassing pickets. However, Minsk city election commission found no violations, despite video evidence provided by the activists.
A few days later, Mikita Krasnou and Viachaslau Dziyanau reported similar violations to the city election commission.
Meanwhile, Ms. Halina Siamdzianava believes that while considering the complaints the commission heads Mr. Atamanau and Mr. Khmyl abused their authorities and violated Paragraphs 8 and 10 of Article 61 of the Electoral Code. She also demands issuing an official warning to Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s initiative group.
