This weekend the capital saw Picket of Memory – an action dedicated to the tragic anniversary mass killing of the national elite in the Minsk prison by NKVD in the night of 29-30 October 1937.

That night several tens of prominent Belarusian intellectuals were shot in the present KGB prison, including Aliaksandr Charnushevich, Mikhas Charot, Ales Dudar, Todar Kliashtorny, Mikhas Zaretski, scientists and artists. That night was the apogee of the extermination of the Belarusian intellectuals in the 1930-ies.
