Brest region: members of political parties constitute only 2% of candidates for precinct election commissions
Almost a
half of candidates for the precinct election commissions of the Brest region
were nominated by collection of electors’ signatures, while political parties
nominated just 2% of pretenders.

information about the nomination of candidates for the precinct election
commissions. According to the published data, there are 11,453 pretenders for
membership in 986 precinct commissions. 5.387 of them (47%) were nominated by
collecting electors’ signatures, 1,999 (17.5%) were nominated by collectives of
enterprises and institutions, 246 (2.1%) – by political parties and 3,821
(33.4%) – by NGOs.
The leader among the political parties is the Belarusian Popular Front who
nominated 90 representatives, and the official Federation of Trade Unions of
Belarus holds leadership among NGOs – 1,478 nominees.
