Mahiliou region: democratic opposition delegated 121 representatives to precinct election commissions

precinct election commissions will be established in the Mahiliou region. 9,685
people were nominated to them, 3,571 of which – by political parties and NGOs,
4,286 – by collection of electors’ signatures and 1,828 – by collectives of
institutions and enterprises.
According to the secretary of the Mahiliou Region Election Commission Liudmila
Makaranka, the region has the highest number of pretenders for seats in the
precinct commissions in Belarus.
’The democratic parties of the Mahiliou region nominated 121 persons to the
precinct commissions,’ said the Deputy Chairperson of the organizing committee
of the Party of Freedom and Progress Ales Silkou. ‘These people were nominated
by the NGOs Civil Forum and the
Belarusian Popular Front Adradzhenne,
the United Civil Party and the Belarusian Leftist Party Fair World.
The formation of precinct election commissions will finish on 3 November.
According to the Electoral Code, the number of members in them can vary from 5
to 19 persons.
