Pinsk: 3 representatives of opposition parties included in precinct commissions
On 3
November the Pinsk Town Executive Committee held a sitting to form the precinct
commissions in Pinsk. Representatives of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee and
representatives of opposition political parties were present there.
There were established a total of 69 commissions consisting of 875 people, 162
of whom had been nominated by groups of workers, 374 – by collection of
electors’ signatures, 313 – by NGOs and 26 – by political parties.
What concerns the representation of political parties in the commissions: the pro-governmental
Communist Party of Belarus nominated 21 persons, 13 of which were included. The
Belarusian Popular Front nominated 3 people, 1 of which was included and the
Belarusian Leftist Party Fair World nominated
2 and the both of them were included in the commissions.
Bear in mind that the opposition parties intended to nominate as many as 19
representatives to the commissions, but nominated just 5 because of defects in
their organizational work.
