Hrodna: composition of precinct election commissions wasn’t approved by Leninski District Executive Committee
According to the observer Viktar Sazonau, the Leninski District
Executive Committee (DEC) of Hrodna didn’t form the commissions, as participants
of the appropriate sitting (that was directed by the DEC Chairperson Barys
Fiodarau) didn’t vote for the approval of the resulting minutes of the sitting.
Observers and representatives of the political parties were admitted to the
sitting. It was held according to the usual scenario: at first the head of the
organizational and personnel department of the DEC Robert Brazhuk announced the
general information and statistics concerning the nominees and the ways of
their nomination. Then the present members of the executive committee decided
to vote for the lists of members of commissions without reading the surnames.
When the turn came to commission #22, Uladzimir Khilmanovich who had been
nominated to this commission, stood up and asked to explain why he hadn’t been
included in it. Barys Fiodarau answered that no one had the right to interfere
with the process of the sitting and ignored his question, after which Mr.
Khilmanovich left the room.
As a result, only 2 out of 21 nominees of the United Civil Party, and 1 out of
2 nominees of the Belarusian Leftist Party Fair
World were included in the commissions. All 10 nominees of the Belarusian
Social Democratic Hramada and 10 more nominees of the Belarusian Popular Front
weren’t included. Viktar Sazonau wasn’t issued a copy of the resulting minutes
of the sitting, though he asked for it.
’We witnessed another political farce – no one was going to discuss the
proposed candidacies, and the adverse discrimination of democratic parties was
evident,’ comments Mr. Sazonau.
