Formation of precinct election commissions in Slutsk district
On 3 November the
Sllutsk District Executive Committee held a sitting to form the precinct
election commissions of the Slutsk district. The sitting was attended by the
representative of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee Vital Amialkovich.
767 people were included in 74 precinct commissions. The relevant information
was read by the head of the organizational and personnel department of the
executive committee Valery Boika. According to him, 295 people were nominated to
the PECs by
NGOs and political parties, 374 – by collection of electors’ signatures in
support of their candidacies and 98 – by collectives of institutions and
enterprises.
There are only representatives of the pro-governmental Communist Party of
Belarus in the commissions. NGOs are also represented only by pro-governmental
organizations including Belaya Rus,
the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, the Federation of Trade Unions, the
Belarusian Union of Military Officers, the Belarusian Children’s Fund, the
Belarusian Association of Red Cross and the Union of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan.
Almost 70% of members of the PECs
are women, and only about 10% are less than 30 years old.
