Salihorsk: sitting of executive committee is held in secret
On 2 November the Salihorsk District Executive Committee held a sitting
to form the election commissions for the 68 precincts of the district. More
than 700 people were included in the commissions including just one nominee of
the opposition (he represents the Belarusian Leftist Party Fair World). All other nominees of this party and the United Civil
Party weren’t included in the commissions.
According to the UCP representative Larysa Nasanovich, the party has already
prepared a lawsuit against the ruling of the executive committee.
’They didn’t want to tell us the time of the sitting. Till afternoon we were
told that no sittings were scheduled for this day, in the afternoon we were
told that the sitting had already taken place in the morning. They didn’t give
a substantial answer why only one of our nominees had been included in the
precinct commissions,’ says the representative of Fair World in Salihorsk Kazimir Kavetski.
Bear in mind that observers of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee weren’t
informed about the time and place of the sitting though they had made a special
inquiry about it.
