Svislach District Executive Committee ignores candidacies of oppositionists
The sitting of the Svislach
DEC on the formation of the precinct election commissions was held in the worst
traditions of the Soviet times: the officials were reluctant to consider the candidacies
of five nominees of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada and simply ignored
them. Two more democratic activists were nominated to the commissions by
collecting signatures of electors. It is not known whether they were included,
as far as the lists of members of the commissions weren’t read at the sitting.
It will become known only after the publication of these lists in the local
district newspaper.
’How can we exercise the legal right to appeal against such decisions of the
executive committees, if the law gives us only three days for it?! It is
physically impossible. We again watch a show. During the previous election the
Svislach DEC first included some members of the BSDH in the commissions, but
after the official publication of the lists of the commission members we
learned that it wasn’t so. This time no representatives of Hramda were included right away,’ comments the situation the
observer Viktar Dzesiatsik.
The situation is a bit different in the Dziatlava district. 2 out of 4 nominees
of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada were included in the PECs there: Mikalai Melekh was included in the
Kastrychnitskaya PEC #9 in the town of Dziatlava
and Yury Chaikouski – in PEC#7 of the sanatorium Radon.
