Homel: Central Election Commission again sees no violations of Lukashenka’s campaign team
The Homel human rights defender Anatol Paplauny received an answer to
his complaint about violations of the law by the campaign team of Aliaksandr
Lukashenka. The complaint concerned the collection of signatures by Viktoryia
Siomina on the territory of the enterprise Vipra
of the Belarusian Association of the Deaf during the working hours.
According to Mr. Paplauny, the workers of the enterprise formed a line to put
their signatures, from which one can assume that this process was organized by
the administration of the enterprise, which is also a gross violation of the
law.
Anatol Paplauny demanded that the Central Election Commission held a check-up
of these facts and issued a warning to the campaign team of Aliaksandr
Lukashenka.
However, the CEC answer alleges that there were no violations. The human rights
defender is informed that a check-up of the aforementioned facts was held with
participation of the Chairperson of the Homel Region Election Commission
Mikalai Stosh, the signatures had been collected during the dinner break and at
the check-up of the enterprise. And Siomina hadn’t showed him the passport as
he had allegedly demanded it in a rude form and hindered her in collecting the
signatures.
’Everything was vice-versa: signatures were collected during the working hours
and on the territory of the enterprise – I have the photos that show where
Siomina sat. It was the deputy head of the enterprise on ideology Mikalai
Charneika who come up to us while we were having a talk and prohibited her to
show her passport,’ says Mr. Paplauny.
The photos show well enough where the signatures were really collected.
