Brest region: CIS LTO calls electoral process democratic
The regional state-owned
newspaper Zarya published an
interview under the title Berastseishchyna
is already prepared to holding elections…, including an interview with the
long-term observer of the Commonwealth of Independent States Bakhyt Dasanov,
the Deputy Head of the Department of Security Cooperation and Counteraction to
New Threats and Challenges of the CIS who was elected the Chairperson of the
department of the CIS observance mission in the Brest region.
In his interview Mr. Dasanov stated that representatives of political parties
and NGOs (including the opposition) had a large representation in the election
commissions, which witnesses the democratic nature of the electoral process.
Moreover, the observer is glad to have the direct internet access to any
information concerning the election, which, in his opinion, provides the
maximal openness and transparency.
Bakkhyt Dasanov watched the collection of signatures in support of the
candidacies of Aliaksandr Lukashenka, Uladzimir Niakliayeu and Yaraslau
Ramanchuk. ‘No obstacles were created to it by the local authorities and the
law-enforcement agencies,’ stated the LTO.
