Hrodna: detentions of members of Belarusian Popular Front
The BPF activists Vadzim
Saranchukou and Maksim Hubarevich were detained in different parts of Hrodna in
the evening of 7 November. The Chairperson of the Hrodna city BPF organization
Vadzim Saranchukou was detained by border guards at the crossing point Pryvalka
while returning to Belarus
from Lithuania.
He was kept at the border for two hours. The border guards examined his
belongings and made him fill in a customs declaration, after which he was let
go.
Maksim Hubarevich, in his turn, was again detained at the railway station while
returning home from the BPF office in Budzionny
Street. The police found in his backpack a
songbook in the Belarusian language and spent some time consulting their bosses
on walkie-talkies. However, the police administration didn’t order them to detain
him, that’s why he was let go.
By the way, Hubarevich and Saranchukou are activists of the campaign team of a
potential candidate for President of Belarus, Ryhor Kostuseu.
