Hlusk: member of Belarusian Helsinki Committee Ihar Kiryn complains to Central Election Commission
The resident of Hlusk
Ihar Kiryn filed with the Central Election Commission a complaint against the
refusal of the Chairperson of the Hlusk District Election Commission Aliaksandr
Belski to register him as an observer at the commission.
Ihar Kiryn had passed to the district election commission the application for
his registration signed by 12 electors. Having familiarized with the
application, Mr. Belski said that the surnames and data of two electors
differed from all the rest and needed to be verified. However, he didn’t call
the concrete day when the signatures would be verified. Meanwhile, even 10
signatures are necessary for registering Mr. Kiryn as an observer according to
the law. Meanwhile, he insists that even these two signatures are valid and the
official uses it just as a formal pretext for his non-registration.
By the way, it’s not the first attempt of Ihar Kiryn to get engaged in the
electoral process. Earlier he hadn’t been included in the Hlusk District
Election Commission to which he had been nominated as the representative of 13
electors. 3 of the electors had even lodged lawsuits, but the Hlusk District
Court refused to consider them.
