Vitsebsk: signatures in support of Uladzimir Pravalski found invalid
This information was
obtained from Leanid Svetsik, an observer at the Pershamaiski and the
Kastrychnitski district election commissions of Vitsebsk. The potential
candidate for president Pravalski refuses to comment on the situation till
receiving a final decision from the Central Election Commission.
According to Mr. Svetsik, at a sitting of the Kastrychnitski District Election
Commission it was stated that the signatures in support of Uladzimir Pravalski
had been verified twice. At first the commission analyzed 8 signatures sheets
and found some mistakes and defects. After this the commission analyzed 6 more
sheets. A total of 194 signatures were verified and 33.5% of them were found
invalid, which served as the reason to declare invalid all remaining ones.
The Pershamaiski District Election Commission didn’t call any concrete numbers.
‘First of all, I wasn’t invited to the sitting, though I am a registered
observer. Secondly, they just told me that Pravalski’s signatures didn’t pass
the verification,’ says Mr. Svetsik.
Meanwhile, the largest number of signatures in support of Uladzimir Pravalski,
about 108 thousand, was passed to the Pershamaiski District Election
Commission. Bear in mind that the signatures in support of his candidacy had
been collected almost solely in Vitsebsk.
