Opposition candidates call people to take to streets on 24 November
The opposition
candidates called on the voters to gather on October Square in Minsk on 24 November, an anniversary of the
1996 referendum.
Vital Rymasheuski, Mikalai Statkevich,
Uladzimir Niakliayeu and Yaraslau Ramanchuk’s agent Anatol Liabedzka admitted
that all talks about the single candidate from the opposition had no prospects,
but the joint strategy was still an open question, RFE/RL reports.
According to Uladzimir Niakliayeu, ‘today,
the only place for talking is the square’. It can be seen today that the
election in Belarus
would be neither free nor fair, Niakliayeu thinks.
As said by Anatol Liabedzka, the goal of the campaign is a victory as a
maximum, and at least the start of real talks with the authorities through the
intermediary of the international community.
