Information about results of verification of signatures in Belarusian regions (continued)
Brest
The Maskouski and the Leninski district election commissions of Brest finished
the verification of signatures in support of the nomination of candidates for
President of Belarus. According to the preliminary information, the commissions
didn’t annul signatures in support of any candidates except for Uladzimir
Pravalski.
Mahiliou
According to the human rights defender Barys Bukhel, the Kastrychnitski
District Election Commission of Mahiliou doesn’t give any information about the
results of the verification of signatures.
’On 9 November I came to the commission to find how many signatures had been
declared invalid,’ says Mr. Bukhel. ‘However, the member of the commission
Aliaksandr Ivanenka (the first secretary of the Belarusian Republican Youth
Union in the Kastrychnitski district of Mahiliou) refused to tell anything
about it. When I asked about the reasons, he said that an appropriate decision
had been taken at a sitting of the commission.’
Later Barys Bukhel also phoned to the commission secretary, Volha Siniakina,
but she didn’t inform him about the number of invalid signatures either and
confined herself to saying that all candidates passed the verification of
signatures.
Baranavichy
The Baranavichy Town Election Commission held a press-conference on the
results of the verification of signatures. The event was organized by its
Chairperson Tatsiana Latyshava. According to her, the campaign team of Dzmitry
Us collected the greatest number signatures after that of Aliaksandr Lukashenka
– 6,648. Next to Dzmitry Us come Mikalai Statkevich – 6,382 signatures and
Aliaksei Mikhalevich – 5,495 signatures.
As a result of the verification, the commission declared invalid 14.6% of
signatures in support of Uladzimir Niakliayeu, 12.8% - for Ryhor Kastusiou and
9.7% - for Vital Rymasheuski.
The commission Chairperson also told with honor that only the observer of the
Belarusian Language Society Siarhei Housha complained to the Central Election
Commission about the work of the Baranavichy TEC.
Talachyn district
There were almost no surprises in the Talachyn district – the signatures in
support of any out of the 10 pretenders for presidency weren’t annulled. The
greatest number signatures were collected in support of Aliaksandr Lukashenka –
about 7,000.
The only surprising thing is the number of signatures in support of Uladzimir
Niakliayeu and Vital Rymasheuski – 1,000 for each, whereas the total population
of Talachyn is about 30,000.
