Ales Dzerhachou, observer at Smarhon district election commission, has lodged a complaint with the district executive committee against its earlier decision on authorized canvassing locations.
The observer argues that the decision ‘deprives both the candidates and the voters of a right to freely disseminate and receive information on the candidates and their programmes, since the locations are situated far from the town center.’
Smarhon authorities authorized only one premises for holding election meetings. At the same time, residents of Smarhon district are deprived of any opportunities hold open-air meetings with the candidates.
