HR defender Stefanovich demands to prosecute participants of pro-Lukashenka auto rally

Human rights activist Valiantsin Stefanovich addressed the Central Election Commission with a statement, calling for prosecution of participants of pro-Lukashenka canvassing auto rally, reportedly arranged by foreign nationals.

The rally has been covered by a number of Belarusian state-run media, which, according to the activist, shows that the action’s objective is canvassing votes for the current president of Belarus. ‘However, Paragraph 4 of Article 45 of the Electoral Code prohibits involvement of foreign nationals in canvassing activities,’ says Mr. Stefanovich.

The activist calls for the CEC to stop illegal canvassing activities for Aliaksandr Lukashenka and prosecute the organizers of the auto rally, as provided by Article 49 of the Electoral Code.
