Lelchytsy: Svetlaye Zhyttsio agitates for Lukashenka
The state-owned
socio-political newspaper Svetlaye
Zhyttsio started promoting the incumbent President. The agitation is
carried out on behalf of his most reliable electors – pensioners. The 27 July
issue of the newspaper contains the article To
Make The Right Choice by a former teacher Valiantsina Siutsiukava.
In the very beginning of the article the pensioner confidently states that the
majority of residents of the Lelchytsy district will vote for Aliaksandr
Lukashenka. To her mind, there are many reasons for it: ‘We are getting our
wages and pensions in time, all our children have the opportunity to go to
kindergartens, schools and gymnasiums, receive qualified education in order to
continue it in higher and secondary special educational establishments’.
However, the author keeps silent that the education is given on a paid basis
and is getting more expensive each year. She also states that ‘the material and
technical facilities of medical institutions are getting better every year’.
The pensioner also praises President for the continuation of the gasification
of private houses at the expense of the means that are issued by the state for
the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl tragedy, the business is growing in
the district and more houses are built in the country. ‘Just imagine that all
this might not have come into existence,’ sums up the teacher without drawing a
single number to prove her words.
In order to convince the electors to ‘make the right choice’ she also mentions
the hard 1990-ies, including payment in kind, 2-3 month long wage arrears, the
rapid decrease of the life standards of the majority of the population.
However, she doesn’t mention the present remnants of feudalism in Belarus.
At the end the pensioner makes a confession on behalf of all citizens of Belarus: ‘Of
course, we cannot boast that everything is the way we want it to be in our
country, and anyone can have some pretensions to the present authorities…
However, I believe that the progress that started to show during the last years
of the presidency of A.Lukashenka can continue only under his rule’.
Meanwhile, Svetlaya Zhyttsio hasn’t
published such articles about other candidates for president so far.
