Hrodna Region Court turns down review complaints of opposition parties
The Hrodna Region Court,
headed by Aliaksandr Hrynkevich, predictably declined the review complaints of the
Hrodna city organization of the Belarusian Popular Front and the Hrodna
regional organization of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada against the
non-inclusion of their representatives in the precinct election commissions of
Hrodna.
Bear in mind that the BPF had nominated to these commissions 20
representatives, and the BSDH – 17. However, the authorities included in the
commissions just 1 representative of the BSDH and no representatives of the
BPF.
The lawsuits to the Leninski and the Kastrychnitski district courts of Hrodna
were fruitless and the appropriate rulings of the Leninski and the
Kastrychnitski district executive committees that had been adopted with
violations of legislation were found lawful.
Having received answers from the regional court, the party structures have filed
review complaints with the Supreme Court and are waiting for an answer. They
have no illusions about the results of the complaints and consider them as a
means to show the absence of the independent judiciary in the country.
