Homel: member of electoral team of Uladzimir Niakliayeu attacked by university provost
According to representatives of the university, the activist campaigned for Niakliayeu ‘improperly’.
An agitator from Homel Yauhen Yakavenka was handing out
campaign materials of Uladzimir Niakliayeu
at the crossing of Karpovich and Chyrvonaarmeiskaya Streets, not far from
Belarusian State University of Transport.
’Two provosts, Kanstantsin Bachkou
and Halina Chaenkova, came up to
me. They started making comments about my agitating in the wrong way. One of
them seized my hand and started dragging me into the university building by
force. And there they attacked me together. Students were standing there, and
the students were ordered to hold me. I demanded to call in police, if they
believe I had been violating some rules,’ Yauhen Yakavenka said.
Policemen arrived to the university, as well as Valery Sliapukhin, an electioneering agent of the presidential candidate Uladzimir Niakliayeu.
Yauhen Yakavenka wrote a police statement against Professor Kanstantsin Bachkou, who had been holding him by force. ‘I even asked the policemen whether I should have hit the provost in the ear as self-protection, but they didn’t approve that,’ the oppositionist said.
It is the second incident near the Transport University already. A few weeks ago the state guards of the university hindered Niakliayeu’s agitators from collecting signatures. Then policemen stepped in the situation as well.
By the way, Yauhen Yakavenka is a graduate of this university. Recently he as received a diploma as an electrical engineer there.
